Itinerary
DAY 1 - Aug 31st, 2024

Arrival in Windhoek International Airport , airport pickup and transfer to 4-star hotel in the capital. Optional dinner out. 

DAY 2 - Sept 1st, 2024

Arrival in Windhoek Airport (WDH) and transfer via private plane to Wolwedans Boulders Camp

Check in at Wolwedans Boulders Camp

​

After clearing immigration, we fly on our private plane to Wolwedans headquarters in the Namib Rand Nature Reserve, from where we transfer for half an hour by road to our camp. This afternoon, we will begin our exploration of the reserve. Flight will be 1hr 25min.

​

The Namib Rand Reserve is among the largest privately owned game parks in Southern Africa. Its mix of dunes, mountains, rocky outcrops, sandy flats and gravel plains provides habitats for a diversity of mammals - including hyenas, jackals, foxes, antelopes and various wild cats. Visitors can sip on sundowners while watching the sunset over this unspoiled ancient landscape. Having been named Africa's first International Dark Sky Reserve, it is one of the least light-polluted areas in the world, so don't miss this excellent star gazing opportunity.

From Boulders Camp you can explore the deep south of the Namib Rand Nature Reserve. Guided scenic drives and walking safaris.

DAY 3 - Sept 2nd, 2024

NamibRand Nature Reserve

Accommodation at Wolwedans Boulders Camp

​

The next three days we will spend exploring the vast, open spaces of the Namib Rand Game Reserve. Options for the day include a full or half day scenic drive, walking safari, 1 hour balloon trip (seasonally available), horseback safari or a village tour.

Activities

Wolwedans Scenic Drives
Scenic drives are enjoyed in open 4x4 safari vehicles accompanied by a knowledgeable guide. Various drive options are available and provide the perfect way to explore the Namib Desert.

Wolwedans Walking Safaris
Explore the beauty of the Namib on foot on a guided walking safari.

​

DAY 4 - Sept 3rd, 2024

NamibRand Nature Reserve

Activities included: Morning and evening scenic drives | Desert Sundowners | “Antares” Naked eye star safari | Full day scenic safari | E-biking | Bushman walks

DAY 5 - Sept 4th, 2024

Last day of exploration of this vast wilderness. Some of our options:

  1. Guided Nature Walks: Explore the pristine desert environment on foot with a knowledgeable guide who can provide insights into the unique flora and fauna of the area.

  2. Sundowner Drives: Enjoy an evening drive to a scenic spot to watch the sunset over the vast desert landscape, accompanied by drinks and snacks.

  3. Stargazing: The clear desert skies make for exceptional stargazing opportunities. Learn about the constellations and celestial bodies from a knowledgeable guide.

  4. Hot Air Balloon Rides: Experience the stunning desert scenery from above on a hot air balloon ride, offering a breathtaking perspective of the dunes and the reserve (availability may vary).

  5. Scenic Flights: Take a scenic flight over the NamibRand Nature Reserve for a bird's-eye view of the desert's unique geological formations.

  6. Photographic Tours: Enhance your photography skills with a guided tour focused on capturing the natural beauty and unique landscapes of the Namib Desert.

DAY 6 - Sept 5th, 2024

Sossusvlei

Accommodation at Dead Valley Lodge

​

Transfer via private plane (20 min flight) to Sossusvlei, arriving at our next camp in time for lunch.

​

Dead Valley lodge is the only private lodge inside the park that has the seen from-space Sossusvlei dunes. Guests enjoy exclusive private access to the park before gates open and close for other visitors staying outside the park, making exclusive dune visits and activities. 

​

The reserve offers visitors exclusive wildlife-viewing opportunities which include the likes of oryx, bat-eared fox, brown hyaena and birdlife. Drinks stops in scenic parts of the reserve are a highlight. Complete your excursion in a remote and dramatic spot on the reserve sipping a gin and tonic while watching the sun go down.

DAY 7 - Sept 6th, 2024

Exploring the dune corridor

​

​

Sossusvlei is where you will find the iconic red sand dunes of the Namib with its unique dunes rising to almost 400 meters and the highest in the world. The clear blue skies contrast with the giant red dunes to make this one of the most scenic natural wonders of Africa and a photographer's heaven.

Activities

Morning: Visit to Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei.
World-famous Sossusvlei is the name of an enormous clay pan, flanked by the famous sand dunes that flush red in the early morning sun - as well as the name of the area in general. 

Morning: Visit Sesriem Canyon.


This fascinating geographical formation is well worth a visit. The result of millions of years where water carved its way into the earth, Sesriem Canyon is today three kilometers long.

Afternoon: Sundowner tour

Activities: Sossusvlei excursion

Optional: hot air balloon, scenic helicopter flight

DAY 8 - Sept 7th, 2024

Transfer to Etosha National Park - the start of our safari adventure

Accommodation at Ongava Lodge 

​

We depart our camp and fly private to Ongava Game reserve, bordering the Etosha National Park. The flight will be around 1hr 30min.

​

The landscape is characterized by vast open plains dotted with salt plans and abundant wildlife. One of Ongava's top attractions is its rhino population and guests can experience the thrill of getting close to these majestic creatures. There are impressive views over the camp's waterhole from the main lounge and dining areas and there is also an inviting pool to cool off in.

Activities

Afternoon: Ongava Lodge - Camp Hide
The hide is a fantastic place to while the hours away up close and personal with wildlife slaking its thirst at the camp waterhole. This arid environment where little water occurs makes this a popular drinking spot for game.

​

DAY 9 - Sept 8th, 2024

Etosha National Park

Accommodation at Ongava Lodge

We explore the wildlife and landscapes of the Ongava Game Reserve and Etosha National Park.

Morning: Excursions into Etosha National Park
Enjoy a game drive in Etosha, Namibia's prime savannah wilderness area.

Afternoon: Game drive on Ongava Game Reserve
The reserve is famed for its population of rhino as well as lion and other game such as antelope, including endemic black-faced impala.

DAY 10 - Sept 9th, 2024

Etosha National Park

After a short 20-minute flight from Ongava, you'll land at Onguma's private airstrip, setting the stage for a remarkable day of adventure and relaxation in the African wilderness.

Fly home
